I promise this will be the last Mormon-related post for the next little while. I just wanted to direct you to this audio/slide presentation, created by an active Latter-day Saint for those who have a friend or family member who is doubting/leaving the Mormon Church. In the presentation, the author explains a few reasons why people lose faith in the Mormon Church and what a devastating experience this is, and gives (surprisingly good) advice for those who want to maintain a relationship with someone who has begun to doubt or has decided to leave the church.

That was a really cool presentation. He hit some really good points, but some I think he missed. He missed the fact of why I left. There isn’t anymore loving feeling in the LDS faith then there is in the Catholic faith. There aren’t any better answers.
For all intents and purposes, I left becuase for the most part organized religion is a gathering of a bunch of assholes. I may be one, but I’m one on my own!
To be honest, he completely missed the reason I left, too, but I thought his advice for dealing with ex-Mormons was valuable–just the idea that you need to really see it from their point of view and accept them as intelligent people who have made their own decision.
I’ll give you that. Not that it was mine for the giving in the first place, but I will still give it to you.
But how many Mormons do you know that really want to take the time away from their BUSY spiritual lifes to see a different view point. That is almost considered surrounding yourself with temptation. Then again it’s not just Mormons, it’s people amassed in general. They have lost their ability to see, hear, taste. They are for better words wastes of space and of my oxygen.

I thought the same thing while I was watching his presentation. I’m just not sure his target audience will be willing to even LISTEN to his message, let alone apply it to their lives. But if anyone does, it’ll be a good thing.
